THROUGH THE RUGGED WALLOWASAugust 12-17 | 6 days | $1155 | moderate August 22-27 | 6 days | $1155 | moderate
Our hike begins at Summit Point (elev. 6500 feet), and we hike 7 miles to our camp near Crater Lake, where we spend two nights. The layover day is free for relaxing at the lake or hiking to nearby meadows. On our next hiking day, we walk down Cliff Creek and then hike up the Imnaha River to its headwaters and our camp for two nights below Hawkins Pass. On the following layover day, we can explore the limestone formations in this great glacial cirque while looking for mountain goats. On the fifth day, we hike over Hawkins Pass and down to our camp on the Wallowa River where we spend the final night. On the last day, we hike out to Wallowa Lake.
